Synopsis

The course aims to train and qualify learners to conduct research, prepare and update specialized information on the flora, fauna and landscape in Singapore's key habitats

Competencies Trained and Assessed

  • Identify key sources of information about flora, fauna and landscape in Singapore's key habitats.
  • Use formal and informal research techniques to access current, accurate and relevant information.
  • Check and verify tide (if applicable) and weather conditions.
  • Identify subjects of potential visitor/audience interest, based on direct contact with visitor/audience and consultation with industry colleagues.
  • Make subjects of potential visitor/audience interest the focus of research activities.
  • Analyse information and develop interpretive themes and messages to meet visitor/audience needs.
  • Organise information to support the ways in which it will be used and presented.
  • Create and update personal reference materials using a filing system that allows quick and efficient access and retrieval.
  • Identify and use opportunities to maintain current knowledge about specialised topics.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to enhance and expand own knowledge base.
  • Incorporate updated knowledge into guiding activities.

  • 39 hours
  • 8am to 5pm Daily (Mon-Fri)
