INTRODUCTION
Safety is of great importance for landscape personnel, whose day to day job involves handling mechanised equipment, working at height or use of chemicals. This workshop aims to provide practitioners with supervisory responsibilities in the landscape industry with safety awareness and help prevent accidents from occurring. Participants will learn about safety hazards that frequently appear during landscaping operations.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Noise hazards

  • Noise and effects on health
  • Noise meter and how to operate iT

Heat disorder

  • Effects of heat disorders
  • Signs and symptoms of heat disorder
  • First aid for heat disorder

Work at height

  • Dangers of working at height
  • Group discussion and activity
  • Personal protective equipment requirements and inspection

Chemical handling

  • Type of commonly-used chemicals in landscape industry
  • Personal protective equipment required for handling chemicals
  • Application and practice

ABOUT THE TRAINER
With over 20 years of experience in the landscape industry, Mr Federick Koh has garnered ample practical experience in landscape maintenance operations, arboriculture works and safety matters when it comes to supervision of employees. Mr Federick shares his experience and knowledge as a trainer during his free time. He is also an ISA Certified Arborist.
