INTRODUCTION
Irrigation systems are commonly found in commercial buildings to maximise productivity and ensure that plants receive proper hydration at the right intervals. Selection of the right systems to use and knowing when to irrigate is an important aspect to ensure that plants survive and grow healthily. This workshop aims to let building and facilities managers have a basic understanding of the fundamentals of irrigation systems and things to look out for when maintaining it.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
To impart basic knowledge of irrigation to personnel maintaining irrigation systems for turf, rooftop gardens and planters in buildings.

  • What to look out for in a properly installed irrigation system
  • Tips on maintenance & troubleshooting – clogged emitters and other common issues
  • Sharing session of day-to-day issues related to irrigation systems
Day 2 (AM)
  • Refresher of concepts covered
  • Short quiz
  • Q&A session
Day 2 (PM)
  • Site visit to JTC MedTech Hub
  • Show-and-tell session of various irrigation systems in use using as-built plans

ABOUT THE TRAINER
Mr. David Chua is a Certified Irrigation Designer (CID) in Golf and Landscape Irrigation Systems. He holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of South Australia and a Bachelor of Science (Physics) from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He is also an ACTA Certified Trainer.

Mr. Chua is well known in the golf & landscape irrigation industry with expertise in providing consulting services, innovative design, construction and maintenance solutions. He is the past Chairman of the Landscape Industry Association (Singapore), as well as a past Council Member of the Singapore Landscape Industry Council (SLIC) and a member of the Irrigation Association of Australia (IAA).

Mr Chua has more than 24 years of experience in the irrigation industry - five years as a consultant and the remaining years as a business owner. He is currently the major shareholder and director of Christensen Irrigation (S) Pte Ltd - which originates from the United States and has been established in Singapore since 1991.
