The Landscape Apprenticeship Mentoring Programme (LAMP)
Announced in 2010, this programme seeks to attract energetic and passionate young Singaporeans between the ages of 20 and 35 to the landscape industry through a practical "earn as you learn" scheme. With a strong emphasis on mentoring and on-the-job training, the programme will provide incentives for both the apprentices and their host companies. Grooming the younger generation with both managerial and technical skill competencies will ensure the sustainability of our City in a Garden. The programme framework will take on a hybrid Group Training Model that incorporates the best elements of those already adopted in countries such as Australia, Germany, New Zealand, United Kingdom and the United States. The framework is expected to be completed by end 2011 and targeted to launch in the middle of next year, with about 60 young people to be mentored.
