INTRODUCTION
Centre for Urban Greenery and Ecology (CUGE) is proud to present a three-day workshop on Basic Nature Interpretation for Nature Guides. This is a competency-based programme to introduce Nature Interpretation to Nature Guides and Programme Developers for Nature Tours and Walks.
Nature Interpretation is the art and science of developing and presenting opportunities and programs to experience nature that lead to greater understanding, appreciation and enjoyment. This interactive workshop covers the principles of effective interpretation and offers practical tips on a variety of interpretive tasks. Participants will learn what it means to be a nature interpreter and acquire a broad understanding of the goals, techniques, and attributes required to provide an effective interpretive program. Assessment will be conducted at the end of the programme.

METHODOLOGY:
A balanced of classroom facilitation sessions and field practical sessions in nature reserves and public parks
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
- Tour Guides who are new to Nature Interpretation Skills
- Programme developers who plan and develop nature walks for the public
- Educators conducting excursions and field trips to nature areas
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR
Ms Ng Sock Ling is the Assistant Director of Parks Development, of the National Parks Board, Singapore. She has more than 15 years of working experience in parks development and nature conservation. She graduated with a Masters in Environmental Management from the University of Adelaide. An experienced nature guide, she has conducted guided walks for foreign dignitaries visiting Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve where she was previously the Assistant Director of the reserve. Sock Ling is a Professional Certified Nature Interpretation Skills Guide awarded by National Parks Board and accredited by The International Centre for Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality.

Full Fees: $ 590.00 (inclusive of 7% GST) for Singaporeans and PRs ONLY
(Terms and conditions apply)
Fees include provision of training and assessment materials and halal tea breaks.
Please note that trainees need to attain at least 75% of attendance in training to qualify for assessment.

CANCELLATION
National Parks Board reserves the right to change the programme venue, cancel or reschedule it if necessary or warranted by circumstances beyond our control.
Once the confirmation notice is issued to the participant, cancellation will not be entertained. The fees will be charged in full. However, if the registered participant is unable to attend, he or she will be allowed to nominate a representative. Please inform us of the changes by phone, email or fax 5 working days before the commencement of the programme.
