9 Jun 2010 - Irrigation Specifications for Green Roofs and Vertical Walls |
|
A second successful run of this intensive workshop on Sustainable Irrigation for Urban Landscapes focusing on Green Roofs and Vertical Walls was organised by CUGE on 21 May 2010 at HortPark.
The workshop attracted a strong showing from architects and landscape professionals who made up more than 80% of the class of 38 participants. With the increasing trend amongst property developers and owners to incorporate landscape greenery on rooftops, building facades as well as within building interiors, interest has been stirring among industry professionals who are keen to build up their knowledge about green roofs and vertical walls.
One of the key factors for successful green installations is a good irrigation system. Due to the lack of attention paid to irrigation design considerations at the start of projects, some green roofs and vertical walls have not been sustainable. CUGE has therefore worked with irrigation specialist, Netatech Pte Ltd, to design the workshop to address this knowledge gap so that sustainable green roofs and vertical walls can be achieved.
To cater to industry demand, this oversubscribed workshop will be repeated for a third time in August 2010.
