Basic Chainsaw Operations and Maintenance Certification |

Introduction
The specially designed 3-day course is to introduce trainees on the proper and safe use of chainsaws and the proper techniques of maintenance of chainsaws. This course is accredited with the New Zealand Horticulture Industry Training Organisation. Competent trainees will be given Statement of Competence co-issued by CUGE and Hort-training NZ Ltd, An Approved Training Organisation in New Zealand.
Competencies trained and assessed
- Safe grip and control of chainsaws
- Avoid kick-back
- Basic chainsaw cutting methods
- Clean and check the guide bar, sprocket side-cover, air filter
- Sharpen chainsaws for use
- Check chainsaw for safe use
Methodology
Up to 80% being practical, on-site practice

- WSQ Certified Landscape Technicians doing arboriculture works
Trainer
Richard Wanhill is accredited trainer of Hort-training NZ Ltd and the current President of NZ Arboricultural Association. Richard has more than 14 years of experience and exposure as a trainer/facilitator in arboriculture related fields.
